Dim Progress Check #16 - “Lights, Camera…”
Our second production pass lies ahead of us, yet things are feeling optimistic. There is a significant amount of work that needs to be done before the pass this upcoming Friday, but it feels more hopeful than it did last pass. We’ve spent the last few weeks updating our animation with movements that most accurately represent our final goals for the scenes. Our texturing group has spent the last several weeks making sure everything in the unreal scene is textured, including the characters (despite the numerous headaches that came with the process). The effects for the scenes as well as the crowd have been rigorously worked on by Andy and Paulina, hopefully adding a small taste of our overall goal for colorful effects in our short.
My role has been animation, specifically refining the scenes that I worked on previously. This meant making sure characters’ movements made sense, characters in the background had keep-alive, and the beginnings of facial movement and additional tertiary movements. Ari has taken a large load of the animation in the short, but overall I am content with the state of my current shots. My next biggest challenge is putting together the animatic in the next few days in order to get it to our music and foley person. Hopefully things should go smoother this time considering the foundation we laid for our previous pass, but at the moment I remain cautiously optimistic.
The following are before and after of some shots I worked on:
